Do I need to speak Turkish?

Not for an English-taught programme, and the private universities teach almost entirely in English. Turkish matters for part-time work, administration and daily life, and most universities offer free courses.

What is Türkiye Bursları?

A government scholarship covering full tuition, accommodation, health insurance, a monthly stipend and return flights. It is highly competitive and its deadline falls months before university deadlines, so apply in parallel rather than after.

Is the degree recognised internationally?

Degrees from universities listed by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) are recognised across the Bologna Process, and several Turkish universities sit inside the global top 500. Check YÖK listing before applying to any institution.

Can I work while studying?

Undergraduates may work after their first year with a work permit; graduate students can work from the start. Wages are low relative to Europe, so treat work as supplementary.

Study in Türkiye

Türkiye pairs English-taught degrees with living costs roughly half those of Western Europe, and its scholarship system is unusually generous: Türkiye Bursları covers tuition, housing and a monthly stipend, while the private universities award merit scholarships automatically at admission. The published fee is often not what an admitted student actually pays.

Typical tuition: $3,000–$26,000 / year
Living cost: €500–€850 / month
Work while studying: 24 hrs / week
Post-study stay: 12 months
Main intakes: September, February
Teaching language: English
